Job Summary:
One of the key roles of a Store Attendant is to carry out a variety of tasks aimed at ensuring the smooth running of store activities. These duties often involve assisting customers, supervising inventory, processing transactions, and keeping the store environment clean and well-maintained.
Duties and Essential Job Functions:
- Customer Service: Elevate the customer experience with personalized greetings, guidance in selecting products, and effective resolution of any queries or problems that arise.
- Cash Register Operation: Execute tasks with the cash register, such as processing transactions, itemizing and summing up purchases, receiving payments, returning change, and packaging products.
- Merchandise Management: Merchandise Management pertains to actions such as placing merchandise on shelves, restocking products when required, and creating visual product presentations. Furthermore, it involves the unpacking and sorting of items delivered in shipments.
- Store Maintenance: Ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of the store by tidying up the floors, bathrooms, and stockrooms. Regular trash disposal and performing standard cleaning chores are vital to uphold a clean store atmosphere.
- Store Operations: Follow company procedures regarding the handling of products, which includes receiving, unpacking, and sorting inventory. Provide assistance in the setup of sidewalk presentations and promotional displays.
- Compliance: Abide by company policies and safety standards. Support inventory control efforts and ensure compliance with operational protocols.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Customer Interaction: Having excellent interpersonal skills to interact successfully with clients and provide unparalleled service.
- Communication: Strong oral communication capabilities and the skill to follow instructions and retain procedural knowledge.
- Cash Handling: Core understanding of cash management procedures and numerical expertise for completing financial transactions accurately.
- Organization: Capability in structuring goods and managing a pristine and organized store ambiance.
Work Experience and/or Education:
- Education: It is preferred that applicants have completed high school or an equal educational attainment.
- Experience: It is advantageous to have prior experience in retail or customer service, but it is not a prerequisite.
Working Conditions:
- Physical Requirements: Candidates must be capable of frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting tasks, able to handle products and machinery, and lift items weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally up to 55 pounds.
- Environment: High-energy workplace with moderate noise levels and occasional interaction with outdoor weather.
