Job Summary:
In collaboration with the Associate Store Manager, the Assistant Store Manager is responsible for maintaining a clean, customer-centric store. They supervise staff, manage inventory, handle administrative tasks, and process deposits. Alongside stocking and cashier responsibilities, the Associate Store Manager performs additional duties to increase profits, improve customer satisfaction, and safeguard the company's assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide top-notch customer service by greeting and aiding customers, operating registers, and detailing purchases.
- Opening and closing the store should occur a minimum of two times during the week.
- Collaborate with the Store Manager on employee scheduling, training initiatives, safety assemblies, and policy conformity checks.
- Enforce guidelines for managing goods, including the acceptance, unpacking, storing, refilling, and reordering of merchandise.
- Manage inventory levels effectively through damage control, markdowns, and regular facility audits.
- Adhere to the planograms to establish and uphold the correct presentation of merchandise as required by the company.
- Preserve financial authenticity by ensuring cashier answerability, controlling key access, and complying with cash management procedures.
- Approve reimbursement requests, override transactions, conduct till audits, and deposit funds into the bank.
- Supervise the store activities in the Store Manager's nonattendance.
Qualifications:
Skills Required:
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and adeptness in both written and oral communication.
- Competence in handling various situations through effective problems solving.
- Superior organizational aptitude and precision in handling details.
- Competence in interpreting and comprehending diagrams, safety instructions, and procedural guides.
- Competent in conducting mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentage calculations.
- Adept at utilizing cash registers and producing detailed reports.
- Knowledge of how to handle cash, maintain facilities, and uphold safety standards.
Education/Experience:
- A high school diploma or its equivalent is the preferred educational background.
- Ideal candidates will possess one year of retail experience, with an added six months of supervisory responsibilities.
Working Conditions:
- Performing recurring tasks such as walking, standing, bending, stooping, and kneeling.
- Regular utilization of merchandise and equipment, such as portable scanning devices, labeling tools, box opening devices, utility carts with a U shape, and wheeled transfer units.
- Required to lift objects up to 40 pounds frequently, with intermittent lifts of up to 55 pounds.
- Intermittent stepping up on a ladder extending to six feet in height.
- A dynamic environment with a moderate level of noise and a brisk pace.
- Occasional encounters with weather elements.
- Offering driving services for depositing funds in the bank and attending store management meetings as and when required.
