The Inventory Manager's primary duties at Dollar General revolve around overseeing the operational and financial aspects of a retail store. Core responsibilities include enhancing sales performance, delivering outstanding customer service, and upholding store standards. Furthermore, the Inventory Manager is in charge of recruiting, training, and nurturing store team members, along with overseeing the financial viability of the store through effective expense control and inventory management.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Staff Management:

• Provide leadership, encouragement, and growth opportunities for a team of employees to optimize store performance and reach sales targets.
• Engage in recruiting, onboarding, training, and retaining capable employees to meet store staffing requirements.
• Monitor and support all store personnel in following company policies and procedures.
• Conduct routine employee performance reviews and communicate feedback effectively.

Sales & Customer Service:

• Uphold superior customer care standards through friendly greetings, active support, and prompt issue resolution.
• Increase store profits by marketing Dollar General products, stocking shelves adequately, and implementing impactful merchandising approaches.
• Employ sales data and reports in order to monitor and boost sales performance.

Inventory & Merchandising:

• Monitor the receiving, placement, and periodic refreshing of merchandise to uphold precise inventory levels and ensure continuous product availability.
• Put into practice and uphold store planograms, making certain that items are exhibited in accordance with company standards.
• Conduct frequent inventory counts and audits as a strategy to prevent shrinkage and decrease losses.

Financial Management:

• Supervise the store's financial well-being by managing the costs associated with staffing, cash operations, and inventory control.
• Adhere to the guidelines for handling cash, which involve maintaining cashier integrity, depositing money in the bank, and conforming to the security protocols established by the company.
• Regulate and handle expenses to ensure the store is operating effectively within the approved financial limits.

Operational Excellence:

• Ensure the store remains clean, well-arranged, and adequately maintained continuously.
• Maintain precise records for sales, payroll, and various administrative functions.
• Guarantee that the store is in alignment with all organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory laws.

Safety & Compliance:

• Uphold a safe work environment by following safety guidelines and scheduling regular safety discussions.
• Confirm that the store is compliant with health and safety regulations mandated by local, state, and federal authorities.

Community Engagement:

• Forge relationships with clients and the community nearby with the aim of creating a positive perception of the store.
• Present Dollar General in a professional and ethical light in all interactions.

Required Qualifications:

• A high school diploma or its equivalent is a prerequisite, and candidates with an Associate's or Bachelor's degree are preferred.
• Candidates must have completed at least a year of managing a team in a retail environment.
• Proficient in leadership capabilities, effective communication, and organizational expertise.
• Shown proficiency in managing numerous tasks, establishing priorities, and fulfilling deadlines.
• Demonstrated capability in independent decision-making and problem-solving.
• Capability to carry out mathematical calculations, like addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and determining percentages.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Skillset involving the ability to stand for extended intervals and move continuously across the sales floor.
• Capability to use vital store tools like cash registers, handheld devices, and pallet jacks efficiently.
• The job entails frequent requirements for bending, stooping, and kneeling.
