A critical aspect of the Dollar General Store Manager position is to lead, manage, and drive profitability in a Dollar General store. This entails prioritizing sales growth, offering exceptional customer service, and upholding store policies. The General Store Manager is also accountable for hiring, training, and fostering the professional development of store staff, ultimately ensuring that the store's financial health is maintained through prudent cost and inventory management.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Staff Management:

• Guide, empower, and nurture a team of staff members to guarantee the smooth functioning of the store and successful attainment of sales objectives.
• Source, onboard, educate, and maintain skilled workers for store staffing demands.
• Manage and mentor store employees to ensure compliance with company policies and guidelines.
• Ensure regular evaluations of employees' work performance and deliver feedback promptly.

Sales & Customer Service:

• Deliver top-notch customer assistance by warmly greeting customers, helping them, and managing their concerns.
• Enhance sales at the store by advertising Dollar General merchandise, keeping shelves well-supplied, and utilizing efficient merchandising methods.
• Leverage sales data and reports to observe and enhance sales effectiveness.

Inventory & Merchandising:

• Manage the inbound flow, organization, and periodic turnover of items to sustain correct inventory levels and secure product availability.
• Carry out and sustain store planograms to ensure proper presentation of merchandise as per company regulations.
• Keep track of inventory regularly through audits to prevent shrinkage and minimize expenses.

Financial Management:

• Take charge of the store's economic health through the regulation of payroll expenditures, cash transactions, and inventory expenses.
• Ensure that cash transactions are processed in accordance with the designated procedures, including monitoring cashier activities, completing bank deposits, and observing the security measures set by the company.
• Oversee and handle costs to maintain the store's operations within the specified budget constraints.

Operational Excellence:

• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and upkeep of the store at all times.
• Ensure that all records related to sales, payroll, and other administrative duties are accurately maintained.
• Ensure that the store follows all corporate policies, protocols, and legal statutes.

Safety & Compliance:

• Comply with safety regulations and hold regular safety sessions to uphold a safe workplace.
• Ensure that the store is in adherence to all laws at the local, state, and federal levels, particularly regarding health and safety.

Community Engagement:

• Develop strong bonds with customers and the local community in order to nurture a positive reputation for the store.
• Uphold professional and ethical standards when acting as a representative for Dollar General.

Required Qualifications:

• Applicants must possess a high school diploma or a similar qualification, with a preference for those who have completed an Associate's or Bachelor's degree.
• A minimum of 12 months of management experience in a retail environment is necessary.
• Demonstrating robust leadership qualities, clear communication skills, and adept organizational capabilities.
• Established skill in handling multiple assignments, determining priorities, and meeting set timeframes.
• Skilled in resolving problems and making independent decisions.
• Skill in conducting mathematical computations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Capacity to stand for prolonged periods and regularly shift positions while navigating the store.
• Skilled in operating required store equipment, which encompasses cash registers, handheld gadgets, and pallet jacks.
• Frequently expected to engage in bending, stooping, and kneeling.

Work Environment:

• Intermittent experience with changing atmospheric conditions.
• Permanent position, with the need for availability during non-traditional hours such as nights, weekends, and holidays.
