At Dollar General, the Retail Team Leader plays a pivotal role in overseeing the management, running, and profitability of an individual store. They are tasked with boosting sales figures, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring that store standards are maintained. Moreover, the Retail Team Leader is responsible for recruiting, training, and nurturing store employees, while also safeguarding the financial health of the store by efficiently managing expenses and inventory.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Staff Management:

  • Manage, uplift, and foster a team of workers to ensure the operational effectiveness of the store and the accomplishment of sales objectives.
  • Acquire, enlist, educate, and preserve qualified staff to address store staffing needs.
  • Lead and give guidance to store personnel to ensure adherence to company policies.
  • Provide regular assessments of employee performance and offer valuable feedback.

Sales & Customer Service:

  • Offer excellent customer service by welcoming and aiding clients, as well as attending to any inquiries or problems.
  • Drive up sales within the store by advocating for Dollar General goods, ensuring shelves are well stocked, and executing successful merchandising strategies.
  • Utilize sales data and reports as a tool to oversee and enhance sales productivity.

Inventory & Merchandising:

  • Administer the intake, positioning, and cyclic shuffling of products to sustain accurate stock levels and secure ongoing product availability.
  • Implement and manage store planograms to maintain the correct display of merchandise as outlined by the company.
  • Implementing regular inventory checks and audits can help deter shrinkage and cut down on losses.

Financial Management:

  • Maintain the store's financial stability by overseeing payroll, cash flow, and inventory expenditure.
  • Guarantee compliance with cash management policies by overseeing cashier accountability, conducting bank deposits, and ensuring adherence to the security standards set by the organization.
  • Manage and keep track of expenditures to uphold the store's operations within the assigned budgetary boundaries.

Operational Excellence:

  • Keep the store in a neat, organized, and well-kept state permanently.
  • Keep detailed records of sales, payroll, and other administrative assignments.
  • See to it that the store complies with all company rules, protocols, and legal mandates.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Maintain a secure workplace by abiding by safety procedures and hosting routine safety gatherings.
  • Guarantee that the store meets the requirements set forth by local, state, and federal laws, with a focus on health and safety standards.

Community Engagement:

  • Establish rapport with customers and the local community to build a strong and positive reputation for the store.
  • Maintain professionalism and ethical conduct while representing Dollar General.

Required Qualifications:

  • Individuals applying for the position should have a high school diploma or meet the equivalent criteria; having an Associate's or Bachelor's degree is advantageous.
  • One year of supervisory experience in retail management is a prerequisite.
  • Displaying strong leadership skills, clear communication abilities, and excellent organizational proficiencies.
  • Verified capability in juggling multiple tasks, prioritizing duties, and achieving deadlines.
  • Proficiency in problem-solving and the autonomy to make decisions.
  • Proficiency in performing mathematical operations, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Proficiency in standing for extended periods and maintaining an active presence by moving frequently around the store.
  • Competence in managing crucial store machinery, such as cash registers, handheld devices, and pallet jacks.
  • The position involves frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling.
