Job Summary:
The Retail Clerk's main duties involve facilitating store functions to guarantee seamless operations. Responsibilities comprise aiding patrons, overseeing inventory, handling transactions, and upholding store tidiness.
Duties and Essential Job Functions:
- Customer Assistance: Deliver outstanding customer support through friendly greetings, helping customers with choosing products, and resolving any concerns or questions they may have.
- Cash Register Operation: Utilize the cash register for handling transactions, such as listing and summing up purchases, receiving payments, giving back change, and packing items.
- Merchandise Management: Merchandise Management involves tasks like arranging products on shelves, replenishing stock when necessary, and setting up attractive product displays. Additionally, it includes the responsibility of unboxing and categorizing items from incoming deliveries.
- Store Maintenance: Thoroughly clean and manage store sections like floors, bathrooms, and storage areas. Eliminate garbage and carry out regular cleaning duties to uphold a neat in-store atmosphere.
- Store Operations: Adhere to company protocols for managing goods, such as receiving, unboxing, and arranging items. Aid in the establishment of outdoor displays and promotional arrangements.
- Compliance: Follow the rules and safety measures set by the company. Help with stock control and make sure to follow all operational protocols.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Customer Engagement: Demonstrating proficient interpersonal abilities to effectively engage with clients and deliver outstanding service.
- Communication: Effective verbal communication abilities and the capacity to adhere to guidelines and retain procedures.
- Cash Handling: Fundamental knowledge of cash management protocols and numerical abilities required for conducting financial transactions.
- Organization: Proficiency in arranging products and upholding a neat and well-kept store atmosphere.
Work Experience and/or Education:
- Education: Preference is given to candidates with a high school diploma or an equivalent level of education.
- Experience: Having previous experience in retail or customer service is advantageous, although it is not a necessary requirement.
Working Conditions:
- Physical Requirements: Physical demands include regular walking, standing, bending, and handling of items and machinery, with the capacity to lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds and sometimes up to 55 pounds.
- Environment: Busy workplace with moderate noise levels and intermittent contact with outdoor elements.
