Job Summary:
The Assistant Store Supervisor aids in upholding a neat and customer-focused store in line with the Store Manager's directives. This position involves overseeing employees, managing inventory, finalizing paperwork, and handling deposits. Besides managing stocking and cashier duties, the Assistant Store Supervisor undertakes various responsibilities to boost profitability, enhance customer experience, and secure company assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Offer exceptional customer assistance by welcoming and supporting customers, managing cash registers, and documenting purchases.
- Ensure that the store is opened and shut no less than twice weekly.
- Help the Store Manager with coordinating employee schedules, delivering training modules, conducting safety gatherings, and verifying policy compliance.
- Employ methods for controlling products, encompassing the acceptance, unwrapping, placement, replenishment, and reorganizing of items.
- Control inventory accuracy by monitoring spoilage, markdowns, and conducting facility assessments.
- Carry out the implementation and upkeep of planograms to ensure that merchandise is showcased in accordance with company standards.
- Guarantee financial trustworthiness through cashier reliability, key oversight, and adherence to cash control guidelines.
- Issue refunds, authorize exceptions, perform cash register audits, and complete bank deposits.
- Assume responsibility for managing the store when the Store Manager is away.
Qualifications:
Skills Required:
- Proficient in communicating effectively through interpersonal interactions, writing, and speaking.
- Proficiency in addressing a range of issues through problem-solving aptitude.
- Outstanding talent for structuring work effectively while focusing on minutiae.
- Skill in reading and deciphering diagrams, safety regulations, and operational manuals.
- Adept in handling mathematical tasks that include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
- Capable in cash register functionalities and report creation.
- Proficiency in cash management techniques, facility maintenance, and safety procedures.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma is the preferred credential, or an equivalent is also acceptable.
- Applicants with a background in retail for a year and six months of supervisory experience are desired.
Working Conditions:
- Regularly walking, standing, bending, stooping, and kneeling are routine movements.
- Daily operation of items and tools, including portable scanning devices, label applicators, package opening implements, utility carts with a U shape, and wheeled storage units.
- Repeatedly lifting items weighing 40 pounds, occasionally increasing to 55 pounds when necessary.
- Occasional use of a step ladder for heights up to six feet above ground level.
- Fast-moving surroundings with a moderate noise level to be expected.
- Intermittent exposure to outdoor atmospheric factors.
- Transporting cash to the bank and participating in store management discussions as requested.
