Job Summary
Responsibilities of the Class A Delivery Specialist include ensuring timely delivery of goods from Dollar General Distribution Centers to stores and suppliers. This role encompasses operating a tractor-trailer safely, accurately unloading and reloading freight, and providing top-tier customer service. Drivers need to comply with state and federal regulations to maintain safety and effectiveness while driving.
Responsibilities
Primary Duties:
- Handle transporting goods between stores, overseeing return logistics, and arranging for backhauls following all necessary safety measures, optimal efficiency, and timely delivery, in accordance with company guidelines and federal regulations.
- Disembark and reload freight and rolltainers at every store stop.
- Secure all freight and rolltainers tightly before sealing the trailer.
- Ensure the completion of all necessary paperwork and maintain accurate record-keeping.
- Provide reliable and effective customer service to store teams, vendors, and distribution center personnel.
- Keep in line with DOT and FMCSA regulations to guarantee conformity with federal transportation laws and guidelines.
- Verify the condition of vehicles through pre-trip and post-trip evaluations.
Physical Requirements:
- Expertise in efficiently pushing and pulling rolltainers with weights ranging from 600 to 1,200 lbs.
- Frequently stooping, crouching, and reaching to process freight.
- - Experienced in the lifting and carriage of goods with a weight limit of 50 pounds.
- Manually operating the fifth wheel levers, adjusting tandem pins, and connecting the trailer securely.
- Ability to handle work demands in extreme weather situations, like heat, cold, and refrigeration settings.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- A high school diploma is the preferred education level for this role.
- Operating with a lawful Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Individuals must possess a minimum of six months of previous experience driving tractor-trailers.
- Awareness of DOT mandates and FMCSA safety regulations is key.
- Complete compliance with the Department of Transportation's mandates regarding medical, safety, and drug and alcohol testing is obligatory.

- Competence to manage a flexible work schedule that encompasses nights and weekends.
- Capable of handling overnight journeys and extended stays away from residence.
- Placing a high priority on safety procedures and a diligent focus on specifics.
- Mastering communication and customer service techniques is essential for providing exceptional customer experiences.
