Job Summary:
It is the responsibility of the Stock Clerk to manage a spectrum of tasks essential for ensuring the seamless operation of the store. This entails aiding customers, overseeing merchandise, processing transactions, and preserving a sanitary and structured store setting.
Duties and Essential Job Functions:
- Customer Service: Ensure top-notch customer service by warmly receiving clients, providing guidance on product choices, and promptly addressing any questions or concerns presented.
- Cash Register Operation: Perform duties regarding the cash register, which include handling transactions, itemizing and tallying purchases, collecting payments, dispensing change, and bagging merchandise.
- Merchandise Management: Within Merchandise Management, tasks consist of stocking shelves with items, replenishing merchandise as needed, and assembling product displays. It also encompasses the sorting and arranging of products that arrive through deliveries.
- Store Maintenance: Maintain a clean environment within the store by managing the cleanliness of floors, restrooms, and storage areas. Eliminate waste and conduct routine cleaning tasks to promote a hygienic store ambiance.
- Store Operations: Comply with company protocols in regards to merchandise operations, which involve receiving, unpacking, and organizing products. Help in the arrangement of sidewalk showcases and promotional layouts.
- Compliance: Observe company policies and safety regulations. Assist in managing inventory and make sure to comply with all operational guidelines.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Customer Interaction: Demonstrating adept interpersonal abilities to engage effectively with customers and deliver exceptional service.
- Communication: Competent verbal communication skills and the capacity to adhere to directives and store processes efficiently.
- Cash Handling: Foundational grasp of cash processing guidelines and mathematical skills essential for transactional processing.
- Organization: Competence in categorizing products and sustaining a spotless and methodical store environment.
Work Experience and/or Education:
- Education: The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or a comparable credential.
- Experience: While past retail or customer service experience is valuable, it is not obligatory.
Working Conditions:
- Physical Requirements: Regular physical activities involve walking, standing, bending, and carrying out tasks such as lifting merchandise and equipment, with the ability to lift up to 40 pounds and occasionally up to 55 pounds.
- Environment: Dynamic work setting with moderate noise levels and periodic exposure to external weather conditions.
