Job Summary:
Within their capacity, the Retail Store Assistant is accountable for performing an array of duties essential to facilitate efficient store operations. This entails supporting customers, managing inventory, handling transactions, and upholding a tidy and organized store ambiance.
Duties and Essential Job Functions:
- Customer Service: Improve customer experiences by warmly welcoming individuals, offering assistance in product selection, and promptly attending to any queries or issues raised.
- Cash Register Operation: Manage the cash register to facilitate transactions, including itemization and calculation of purchases, receiving payments, giving back change, and packaging goods.
- Merchandise Management: Responsible for Merchandise Management involves actions like stocking shelves with goods, restocking merchandise as necessary, and setting up product exhibits. It also includes the unpacking and sorting of products acquired in shipments.
- Store Maintenance: Uphold cleanliness within the store by managing the floors, restrooms, and stockrooms. Dispose of garbage and perform regular cleaning duties to maintain a sanitized store environment.
- Store Operations: Implement company procedures for managing merchandise effectively, involving tasks such as receiving, unpacking, and organizing products. Contribute to the creation of sidewalk displays and promotional installations.
- Compliance: Adherence to company policies and safety standards is essential. Provide assistance with inventory management and ensure compliance with operational guidelines.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Customer Interaction: Exhibiting strong interpersonal skills to interact with customers effectively and provide outstanding service.
- Communication: Excellent oral communication proficiency and the ability to follow instructions and memorize procedures effectively.
- Cash Handling: Primary comprehension of managing cash transactions and numerical proficiency for accurate financial processing.
- Organization: Efficiency in sorting merchandise and upholding a clean and orderly store layout.
Work Experience and/or Education:
- Education: Candidates with a high school diploma or similar educational background are encouraged to apply.
- Experience: Previous exposure to retail or customer service is a positive attribute, even though it is not compulsory.
Working Conditions:
- Physical Requirements: The role mandates consistent walking, standing, bending, and lifting duties, as well as the capability to manage merchandise and equipment, with the strength to lift objects up to 40 pounds and occasionally up to 55 pounds.
- Environment: Fast-paced environment with moderate noise and occasional outside weather exposure.
