The Route Delivery Specialist at Dollar General is tasked with responsibly operating a commercial vehicle to transport goods between distribution centers, stores, and other destinations. This position involves ensuring timely and precise deliveries, all while complying with relevant federal, state, and company regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure the safe and effective operation of a Class A commercial vehicle.
• Transport merchandise between distribution facilities and retail stores.
• Ensure to conduct pre-departure and post-arrival vehicle inspections as part of your routine.
• Adhere to the rules and regulations established by the Department of Transportation (DOT).
• Accurately document driving hours and the maintenance performed on vehicles.
• Ensure the timely unloading and transportation of goods following the delivery plan.
• Follow prescribed routes and timetables for prompt delivery.
• Stay connected with dispatch to stay informed about routes and deliveries.
• Demonstrate professionalism in your dealings with store employees and customers.
• Promptly report any vehicle issues affecting safety or performance to the maintenance team.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Certified to operate Class A commercial vehicles with a CDL.
• Generally, the minimum age stipulation is 21 years or older.
• A record free of significant violations, showcasing responsible driving behavior.
• Meeting the DOT's stipulations regarding physical and medical requirements.
• Previous experience in regional or OTR (Over-the-Road) driving is desired for this position.
• Proficiency in time management and adept organizational skills showcased.
• Proficient in hoisting, conveying, and relocating goods when necessary.

Work Environment & Schedule:

• Regularly driving for extended periods of time.
• Entails the job of lifting and moving goods to retail destinations.
• Weekend and holiday shifts may be part of the work schedule.
