Dollar General is hiring for Lead Sales Associate

The Lead Sales Associate helps maintain a clean, well-organized store with a customer-first focus. Responsibilities include assisting customers, operating the cash register, stocking and recovering merchandise, cleaning the store, and performing other tasks assigned by the Store Manager. Additionally, the Lead Sales Associate assumes leadership duties in the absence of the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager, contributing to store profitability and customer satisfaction while protecting company assets.

Duties and Essential Job Functions:

• Provide superior customer service by greeting and assisting customers.
• Operate cash register and scanner to itemize and total purchases, collect payments, make change, and bag merchandise.
• Follow company procedures to receive, unpack, and stock merchandise. Rotate merchandise on shelves and create merchandise displays.
• Clean the store, including taking out trash, dusting, mopping, and maintaining cleanliness in restrooms and stockrooms.
• Assist in implementing and maintaining planograms.
• Open and close the store as directed by the Store Manager.
• Perform additional duties typically performed by the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager in their absence.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and practices.
• Ability to read and follow planograms and merchandise presentation guides.
• Mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
• Proficiency in cash register functions.
• Knowledge of cash, facility, and safety control policies.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures, including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Ability to drive a vehicle to make bank deposits as required.

Work Experience and Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Six months of supervisory experience or relevant training is preferred.

Working Conditions:

• Frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, and kneeling.
• Frequent handling of merchandise and equipment such as scanners, pricing guns, and box cutters.
• Frequent lifting up to 40 pounds; occasional lifting up to 55 pounds.
• Occasional climbing on ladders up to six feet.
• Moderate noise levels in a fast-paced environment.
• Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions.
• Driving or providing personal transportation for bank deposits, meetings, or travel to other stores as needed.
