Job Summary:
Undertaking a variety of tasks, the Merchandising Specialist plays a vital role in maintaining the operational flow of the store. These responsibilities involve assisting customers, overseeing inventory, operating cash registers, and ensuring the cleanliness and organization of the store.
Duties and Essential Job Functions:
- Customer Service: Elevate customer satisfaction levels through friendly interactions, expert product guidance, and timely resolution of customer inquiries or problems.
- Cash Register Operation: Handle the cash register to process transactions efficiently, which involve itemizing and totaling purchases, accepting payments, making change, and packaging merchandise.
- Merchandise Management: The role of Merchandise Management includes responsibilities such as placing goods on shelves, restocking items when needed, and building displays to showcase products. Additionally, it incorporates the unpacking and arranging of products that have been delivered.
- Store Maintenance: Responsible for cleaning and managing various store sections like floors, restrooms, and stockrooms. Dispose of waste and conduct repetitive cleaning tasks to sustain an orderly store setting.
- Store Operations: Abide by the established guidelines for merchandise handling within the company, covering activities like receiving, unpacking, and organizing items. Assist in the development of sidewalk exhibits and promotional configurations.
- Compliance: Uphold company policies and safety standards. Assist in inventory management and ensure compliance with operational guidelines.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Customer Interaction: Showing proficient interpersonal skills to engage effectively with customers and deliver exceptional service.
- Communication: Superior verbal communication skills and the knack for comprehending instructions and storing processes accurately.
- Cash Handling: Basic knowledge of cash handling processes and mathematical aptitude crucial for conducting transactions efficiently.
- Organization: Proficiency in managing products and maintaining a neat and systematic store presentation.
Work Experience and/or Education:
- Education: The preferred educational requirement for this role is a high school diploma or its equal.
- Experience: Although beneficial, prior retail or customer service experience is not a mandatory qualification.
Working Conditions:
- Physical Requirements: The position requires frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting responsibilities, as well as the capacity to handle merchandise and equipment by lifting weights of up to 40 pounds and, on occasion, up to 55 pounds.
- Environment: Lively workplace with moderate noise levels and sporadic encounters with outdoor conditions.
