The Long-Haul Driver employed by Dollar General must drive a commercial vehicle cautiously to transfer merchandise between different locations like distribution centers and retail stores. The key duty involves making sure deliveries are made promptly and accurately, in accordance with federal, state, and company protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform safe and efficient operations of a Class A commercial vehicle.
• Carry cargo between distribution hubs and retail destinations.
• Complete pre-journey and post-journey examinations of the vehicle to ensure its safety.
• Make sure to follow all DOT regulations accordingly.
• Record driving hours and maintenance activities accurately in the logs.
• Carry out the unloading and delivery of freight as per the outlined schedule.
• Maintain adherence to specified itineraries and delivery timelines.
• Keep in communication with dispatch to stay updated on route and delivery progress.
• Uphold a professional manner when dealing with both store personnel and customers.
• Report any vehicle malfunctions or safety issues to the appropriate personnel responsible for maintenance.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Having a valid CDL for Class A vehicles.
• Typically, individuals need to be 21 years of age or older.
• Driving record is clean, showing only a few minor violations.
• Satisfying the DOT's criteria for physical and medical capabilities.
• Candidates with a history of regional or OTR (Over-the-Road) driving are encouraged to apply.
• Demonstrating adeptness in time management and organizational proficiency.
• Competence in raising, conveying, and transferring freight as requested.

Work Environment & Schedule:

• Repeatedly driving for a long time.
• Includes the duty of picking up and depositing shipments at designated retail outlets.
